While observing the conversation on Twitter last week and messaging people, I clicked on one person's blog and after scrolling down through her latest posts, I was blown away by the The Girl Effect.
More than 600 million girls live in the developing world and approximately 150 million are not in school. Roughly 150 to 300 million girls are forced into marriage and motherhood before 18, leaving little time for education or a life of their own.
The facts will continue to break your heart, but this is the cold reality and it's good to be challenged on a Monday morning as to how you are making a difference in the world. I am no saint, but believe we have a duty being born in the United States to earn the life we've been given and help those we can along the way. Whether that means spreading the word, sending money or hoping on plane and working on the ground is up to you. But we gotta do something.
Heather Marie (@CreativeKitsch)- thank you for tweeting about the Manifesto Poster last wk and for your wonderful blog- Creatively Kitsch. It opened my eyes to The Girl Effect and I'm honored to share this inspiring video and organization with the Holstee community.
Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them, so go out and start creating.
