TED Active 2012 Recap
Having had time to fully digest TED Active, I want to share some of my highlights from the conference. The 2012 talks which are gradually being added were, as the theme suggested, across the spectrum. My favorites included:The Clues to a Great Story - by Peter Stanton [Pixar]Listening to Shame by Brené Brown:The Power of Introverts by Susan CainWe Need to Talk about Injustice by Bryan Stevenson...And my award for the 'Most Entertaining + Informative Combo' goes to: $8 Billion Ipod by Rob ReidEducation was also a strong theme this year with the re-launch of TED Ed.Among the goals of this initiative are to create "A resource of short lessons designed to spark curiosity and promote further learning in and out of classrooms."In good TED form, the lessons are created and delivered with the audience in mind i.e. The Cockroach Beatbox which "shows how brains receive and deliver electric impulses."For a detailed play by play of the TED active conference, check out this Storify board that pulled together tweets, images and posts from all participants.Fabian Speaks at Zurich/Creative Mornings!

Jenni Avins of Closettour
Just the other day Barrie and I got to meet Jenni Avins the founder of Closettour. Closettour is all about "The WONDER in wondering what to wear". It talks about the ways people value clothing from every perspective. In short, Closettour is to Clothes, as Omnivores Dilemma is to Food. An exploration of into fashion from someone who has experienced fashion on many levels as a student, as a connoisseur, and even on the production side of sustainable fashion line Edun.
