When we gave the Holste site a facelift back in November, much of the design changes were inspired by our customers. The new site is a reflection of the consistent feedback we received on what would make for a better online shopping experience.
More recently we consolidated feedback on the checkout page and just pushed updates to the site. Here are few of the highlights you can look forward to upon your next checkout:
- Contact information is now more accesible
- Removed Google checkout because no one was using it
- Made it clearer that Paypal was an option and not a requirement
- Unified header and footer design with rest of site and increased width to 960px
- Highlighted that by default, items would ship to billing address but can easily be unchecked to specify shipping address.
As always if you ever have any specific design or user experience feedback let us know by emailing
ux@holstee.com or leaving a comment below. We dig your opinion.
We are excited to announce that Thomas Reggi has jumped on board as the Holstee technology lead! He has already been busy bringing the online presence of Holstee to life with his pixel perfect programming (all of the love in the newly designed website is from this guy right here :). A yin to his own yang, Thomas studied design and illustration in university to become a developer with some of the most impeccable design skills we have ever met. Without further ado, a few words from the newest family member:
Hey All!
My role at Holstee is the technology lead, which entails a hodge-podge of web design and development. I aim for visually appealing design and strive to create the best user interface possible. I view the web as a platform for humanity to grow and expand, and I aim to make it a better place each and every day.
I don't have much of a story to tell, in the words of Captain America “I’m just a kid from Brooklyn”. I've been pretty much fascinated with computers my whole life and with the internet since the good old days of AOL. From when I opened up my first HTML tutorial I've always wanted to make things on or around the internet. I've come a long way since then, (and so have internet speeds, thank goodness). I recently completed my four year degree, and am now working with the coolest team of people in the world!
Glad to have you join the team. Welcome, Thomas!
As you may have noticed today we have launched a fresh look for our
Shopify powered shop as well as some new features to make your experience on our site better. Here are a few things to check out:
Customer accounts: Next time you checkout, you will be prompted to create an account in order to provide easier access to your order history and any open order status.
Customer Support: We have teamed up with
Assistly to offer a new and improved customer experience. If you ever have a question about anything, just let us know!
Product Reviews: We have implemented a product review system through
Disqus so we can hear your feedback on our products! We would love to hear your thoughts and would love if you could help us get the reviews started off by sharing them on product pages!
Hi-Res Product Images: Product pages now have the ability to zoom to help show product details and craftsmanship. Over the course of the next week we will be updating product images so be sure to check back to take a look at this new feature.
Manifesto: Now you can tweet your favorite line of the manifesto, download a printer-friendly version, or email the manifesto all in one easy click. We have also used a new feature by
Thinglink to make it extra easy to embed the image of the manifesto on your site. You will also notice there are little information dots on the image including a link to our latest Lifecycle Film!
Content: We are continuing to make info about Holstee, our team, and our ecology easier to access and read - as always to be as transparent as possible about how & why we do what we do. This is an area that we will be continuing to improve every day.
A very special thanks goes out to
Thomas who swooped in and rocked the development side of our redesign! We'd love to hear your feedback!
